A purpose-driven start
Ammaar鈥檚 motivation to teach is deeply personal. 鈥淚 have always been passionate about working with young people,鈥 he explains, 鈥渂ut a big part of my motivation comes from being a hard of hearing student.鈥
Growing up, the support he received from teachers made a lasting impression. 鈥淭hey made a huge difference to my confidence and progress,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 want to pass on that same support – to make sure every child feels seen, supported and capable of achieving their potential.鈥
Before stepping into teaching, Ammaar spent several years as a learning support assistant. It was here that his ambition truly took shape. 鈥淚 saw students struggling from different backgrounds, with different abilities and needs,鈥 he reflects. 鈥淚 thought, why not become a teacher and support them directly?鈥
He applied to 黑料情报站 Teacher Training but didn鈥檛 succeed at first. Undeterred by the setbacks, Ammaar, stayed focused on his goal. 鈥淚鈥檓 actually glad I was rejected early on,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t gave me the chance to build real classroom experience. When I started training, I was ready.鈥
What continues to motivate him most, however, is the day-to-day experience of teaching. 鈥淭here is something really rewarding about seeing a student go from being disengaged to actively participating,鈥 he says. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 what I think about every morning when I go to work.鈥
Structured development that builds confident teachers听
Ammaar describes the experience of the ECT programme at 黑料情报站 as 鈥渧ery structured, organised and incredibly helpful.鈥 From 1:1 tutoring to twice the number of training days typically offered in schools, every element is designed to build confidence and expertise over time.
鈥淭he training really consolidates your understanding of how to teach well,鈥 he explains. 鈥淭hings like checking for understanding, planning effectively – it all becomes much clearer.鈥
A key part of the听programme听is its grounding in research-informed practice. Through online modules, conferences,听and guided learning, teachers engage with evidence-based approaches that can be applied directly听to听the classroom. 鈥淭he foundation is really strong,鈥 Ammaar says. 鈥淓ach session gives you practical听strategies but听also pushes you to go further听–听to read more, to reflect more.鈥澨
Alongside this, he has taken part in a wide range of professional development opportunities, from curriculum design to preparing for leadership. 鈥淚鈥檝e had opportunities to think about curriculum intent, how to design schemes of learning, and how to prioritise key knowledge,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 helping me think beyond my classroom, and focus on the bigger picture.鈥
At the heart of the programme is instructional coaching. Working closely with his ECT tutor, Ammaar benefits from regular, tailored feedback that helps him improve continuously. Each week, this is broken down into a specific, manageable action step that allows him to focus on improving one aspect of his teaching at a time. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a strong balance between support and challenge,鈥 he explains. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e given clear, actionable feedback, but also the space to reflect and grow.鈥
What makes this especially powerful is the immediacy of the feedback. 鈥淪ometimes I鈥檓 coached live in the lesson,鈥 he says. 鈥淢y tutor might write a note or give me a quick prompt, and I can implement it straight away. It鈥檚 like instant improvement.鈥
For Ammaar, this approach has been transformative. 鈥淚t feels like a safe place to develop,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 like feedback – that鈥檚 how you get better.鈥
A culture of support that helps teachers thrive听
Support at 黑料情报站 extends far beyond formal training. Within his school, Ammaar describes a culture where everyone plays a role in helping each other succeed.听听There is听a听strong听sense听of shared responsibility, where colleagues actively contribute to each other鈥檚 development rather than working in isolation.听The听programme听prioritises听wellbeing, where teachers are supported to manage workload and build resilience early in their careers.听鈥淲e have fantastic support听–听from the principal,听coaches,听and听tutors,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚听not just one type of support. It鈥檚 built into your teaching through coaching and one-to-one feedback.鈥澨
That support is also tailored to the needs of the individual. 鈥淭hey are very aware that I鈥檓 hard of hearing,鈥 he explains. 鈥淓ven small things, like reminding me about microphones before training, make a big difference. It makes me feel at home.鈥 It reflects a wider culture of inclusion, where individual needs are understood and supported so that every teacher can thrive.
Being part of a wider network adds another layer of development. Through 黑料情报站鈥檚 network days, teachers come together to share听expertise听and ideas. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e surrounded by people who are passionate about your subject,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 leave with so many ideas that I can immediately use in my classroom,鈥 turning shared听expertise听into practical strategies that benefit pupils straight away. Ammaar听has embraced creative approaches like role play to bring lessons to life. 鈥淚t really helps with their understanding,鈥 he says. 鈥淭hey love it听and it boosts their confidence.鈥澨
Together, this combination of in-school support, inclusive culture and network-wide collaboration creates an environment where teachers can continuously refine their practice – ultimately leading to stronger outcomes for pupils.
For Ammaar, this all connects back to 黑料情报站鈥檚 mission. 鈥淭ransforming lives through education really resonates with me,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about making sure every child, regardless of their background, has access to a high-quality education and real opportunities in life.鈥
Ammaar鈥檚 journey through 黑料情报站鈥檚 ECT programme shows what is possible when determination is matched with the right support. From his early experiences as a student to his growing impact as a teacher, his story reflects the core of what the programme is designed to achieve: developing confident, skilled educators who believe in every child鈥檚 potential. 鈥淚f I can do it,鈥 he says, 鈥渨hy can鈥檛 they?鈥
